Stockholm Archipelago is Sweden’s largest archipelago, and the second largest in the world, the largest being across the Baltic Sea in Finland.
The Stockholm Archipelago extends from Stockholm city 60 km to the east. North to south it is about 150 km from the island Arholma in the north to the island of Landsort in the south. Within this area, there is around 24000 islands and islets.

Route
The archipelago is vast! With so many options, we explore new routes and discover different campsites every time we set out. We will explore many of the islands, inlets, canals, and sheltered coves, visiting stunning nature reserves and remote waterside hamlets.
We will cover 15km daily and find new wild camps each evening.
Our goal is to return to our starting point of the trip, finishing up at the campsite for a well earned shower and delicious food.
WIldlife
Thousands of islands form this archipelago. Many areas are protected as nature reserves and bird sanctuaries.
There are a large variety of birds that breed in the archipelago throughout the year.
Beavers are found throughout Sweden around Stockholm.
You may be more likely to see an Otter as the population is on the increase around the south.
Camping
With so much wilderness available in Sweden, wild camping is very accessible. The outdoors is a way of life in Scandinavia, and so they are very welcoming to visitors who want to enjoy nature. Campsites will depend on how far we travel each day and the accessibility of the terrain. The beauty of wild camping from a sea kayak means you can find remote spots inaccessible to others to pitch your tent.
We will ensure each camp has a water source for drinking or will fill up at a stream before landing. Although the water in Sweden is clean and unpolluted, you may choose to purify your water with either tablets or a filter if you are not used to drinking from wild sources.
There will be no facilities other than what nature provides whilst wild camping and washing can be invigorating! Be sure to pack a sense of humour.
